Your Treadmill Is More Than A Coat Rack

Attach your laptop to your treadmill!
My life is full of big things. The second treadmill I ever owned was a slick folding one with a very quiet motor. Only thing is, it weighed over 300 pounds and was delivered on a pallet. I opened the garage door and had the driver deposit inside the garage. Right away I knew I wouldn’t be able to move it into the house so I just assembled it right there in the garage.

So then I had this massive 6′ wooden pallet to deal with. I dragged it out into the back yard, got out my electric chain saw and sawed it up into firewood. Now, where to put the firewood? In a big empty box from a laser printer I recently bought — that was already storing the heavy ceramic logs from the fireplace that I temporarily converted back to a wood burning fireplace, the way fireplaces were meant to be in the first place. Ok, I’m getting off topic.

Using the treadmill was pretty slick. I had a little color TV out in the garage so I could watch the news for a 1/2 hour while using the treadmill. That was all fine until summer came and then it got too hot to be out in the garage.

By the time cooler weather came I was out of the mood to use the treadmill. So there it sat in the garage.

I don’t like to wear a coat when I drive no matter how cold it is, so I’ve always left a coat on the front seat of my truck for when I needed one. Only thing is, when I needed it, it was a wrinkled mess. That is until I realized I could use the treadmill for a coat rack. Get out of the truck, hang the coat on the treadmill arms. Get in the truck, grab the coat on the treadmill and take off.

Months later I got in the mood to start using the treadmill again and decided to lay an old bookshelf across the arms to use as a makeshift desk for reading all the ebooks I was buying and printing out. That worked out pretty well for a while until I needed to use the shelf for something else.

Then one day I saw something called a SurfShelf. It attaches to the console of a treadmill with Velcro allowing you to use a laptop while on the treadmill. Wow! I needed that. I have tons of internet marketing videos that I’ve been meaning to watch and that would be perfect, especially since my laptop is wireless. So I ordered one.

I went out in the garage to have another look at the treadmill to see if I could take it apart and drag it into the house. Long story short and over an hour later, the treadmill now sits along a wall in my living room in air conditioned comfort with my SurfShelf attached.

You can get yourself a SurfShelf here.
